2010-06-25 06:43:39 - 25 June 2010 N K Sagar -The Wagah Border -Queen's Baton reached wagah border today at 9.33 AM covering 70 nations across the globe. Michael Fennell held the baton and passed to Suresh Kalamadi receives on behalf of India and will travel in India for 100 days.

Suresh Kalamadi receives the baton from Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell , handed over to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit she in turn handed to Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal later to sportspersons received the baton.Suresh Kalamadi said Pakistan helped India to opt for the CWG 2010 to be hosted in New Delhi.People from the two countries held
their national flag of their respective countries cheered the baton arrival.With National anthem and Musical tune honoured the symbol of Games of the Queen of England.

Punjab Governor Pakistan said it is historic moment that this the time that secretary level talks between the two countries are going on wish a true success.

CWG baton was launched by Queen Elizabeth II from Buckingham Palace in London on October 29 last year in presence of Indian President Pratibha Patil at a formal ceremony. Sheila Dikshit said the delhi is ready for games and thanked Governor of Punjab Shivraj Patel. Patel said the games will bring in spirit of the games and peace for all.

CM of Punjab badl said Both side of border speak Punjabi therefore keeping in view of our long association I will speak in Punjabi -the two countries people are very happy on this occasion and let their be friendly relations between the two neighbours countries - the wall of border needs to open for the countries to trade freely for the prosperity of both countries.Badal said I have studied in lahore for four years and has enjoyed the lassi of Anarkali Bazar of Lahore.Badal asked for slogans of Hindutan Zindabad and pakistan Zindabad to win hearts of people from across the border.

Michael Fennell said Batons coming from Pakistan to India shows the harmony in games and bigger Punjab of two sides represents here shows peoples love.Games are working overtime to make is grand success.

Wadali brothers and popular singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan,are to perform within moments from the same dias. Army bands Bhangra' 'Gidda' Rajasthan folk dance and from other states, traditional music instruments was an added attraction to bring the festive touch.
