New Ghost-cash-for-vote scam

New Ghost cash-for-vote scam,Delhi Police, on Wednesday made the second arrest in the 2008 'cash-for-votes' scam by taking into custody Suhail Hindustani, allegedly acted as a liaison between Amar Singh and BJP MPs sought to be bribed.Hindustani was arrested after seven hours of questioning by the Crime Branch and charges under Prevention of Corruption Act were pressed against him.

Amar Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, ought be questioned “any time soon” when the permission of the House chairman is sought as required for police action. Amar Singh, former Samajwadi Party leader, who has not commented on the issue,may seek legal opinion on the this developments.Union Minister Kishore Chandra Deo, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee,probed the case,maintained that Singh was not called to question by panel as there was no prima facie evidence.

Suhail Hindustani, alleged to have acted middleman between Amar Singh and BJP MPs, bribed during the 2008 floor vote, Hindustani said that he was in touch with some close aides of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.“I received calls from Amar Singh and Ahmed Patel (Political Secretary to Sonia Gandhi). Those close to the prime minister called me and even from10 Janpath (Sonia Gandhi’s residence),” Hindustani told reporters before he was questioned.

Police summoned Hindustani for questioning after it arrested Sanjeev Saxena, once considered close to Singh, for allegedly delivering cash to three BJP MPs.

While appearing for questioning, Hindustani sought to drag Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the cash-for-vote scam by levelling allegations against them and saying he would tell the same to police.

Those close to Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) called me and even from 10-Janpath (Gandhi's residence)," claimed Hindustani to reporters before being questioned.He, however, did not not identify all those who allegedly called him.agencies
