Hu Jintao in Hong Kong on 15th anniversary

Chinese top  leader is to attend anniversary events and the swearing-in of Hong Kong's new chief executive Leung Chun-ying.China's President Hu Jintao is visiting Hong Kong to mark the 15th anniversary of the territory's return to Chinese control. Protests are planned for the 3-day visit.

Nearly  300 children welcomed Hu as his plane landed at Hong Kong International Airport on Friday.
He told reporters that Hong Kong has made various achievements in the 15 years since the former British colony reverted to China.Stressing that the territory has prospered under China's "one-country two-system" policy, Hu said he hopes to see Hong Kong's latest progress during his visit.

 Security is beefed--up as activist are gearing up of  pro-democracy groups are planning mass demonstrations.Their demands include early direct elections for the post of chief executive, and improvement of human rights conditions in mainland China.
